SCREAMING MONKEYS AND THE PET BLOG HOP

Last month I had the absolute pleasure to meet the lovely Cara Brockhoff of Northcoast Greyhounds. She was visiting Tucson to acquire stock for her jewelry during the gem and mineral show. If you are not familiar with this incredible woman and what she and her husband have done for greyhounds, you really need to visit her website. She runs auctions and sales of greyhound themed jewelry and ALL earnings go to greyhound rescue. In addition, she and her husband rescue greys. I believe she currently has 7 seniors and a foster; though I haven’t spoken to her in a month so it could be up to 10 or 12 by now. :) One of my all-time favorite greyhound photos is of her pack.

But, far more important than all the work she does for the hounds, she is the provider of the Screaming Monkey!

Cara and my friend, RJ and Dillon’s Mom, have known each other for quite some time. My friend sent a number of my previous screaming monkey photos to Cara. As an indirect result and Cara’s need for a greyhound fix, when she came into town for the gem show she visited with us at playdate AND provided a suitcase full of screaming monkeys! A monkey for every grey!

The greys went wild. Period. There is no better description. They were sprinting in all directions, tossing monkeys into the air, play bowing. Arms and legs were flapping wildly as monkeys were carried proudly to owners during the showing off new prizes. Monkey shrieks and roars of laughter from the owners were heard for the next hour. Bedlam, mayhem and pure joy reigned supreme. We cannot thank Cara enough for making it one of the best playdates ever.

I have finally had a chance to go through the monkey photos. I know I am breaking tradition of the one photo per post here today, but there were just too many fun images to decide which one to put up. So here are some of my favorites of the screaming monkey playdate. Enjoy.

Also, go buy a(n) monkey(s) from Cara. Earnings from monkey sales are also donated to greyhound rescue.

Wow, so glad I happened upon this site. I will tell my Mom and my dog sister, Twiggy the Greyhound (www.snotfaceandtwiggy.com) about the screaming monkey! It looks like they had so much fun!

those photos are wonderful! Apollo loves the toys that have flappy arms/legs to thrash about. The screaming monkey sound freaks him out, though. :-)

We checked out the Screaming Monkeys! We are not greyhounds, but we think we would love playing with those anyways... Maybe we will ask Mama for some for Easter! ;)

We’re having a raffle right now to raise money for a doggie friend’s medical treatment. Raffle tickets are just $1.00! We’d love it if you’d stop by! (Prizes will be displayed from now until March 12, then on March 13-15 you can “spend” your raffle tickets!)

I agree, Cara is just the nicest person! I've met her a couple of times at Dewey. Our dogs LOVE those screaming monkeys! Did you ever get one of the screaming gorillas she had for a little while? Those were hilarious, too! I love all the pictures!
